JANUARY IS CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH!

Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the cells of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus that connects the uterus and vagina, sometimes known as the “neck of the uterus,” the cervix plays an important role in allowing fluids to pass between the uterus and vagina. 

January 2023  is set aside to focus on the theme “𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐒𝐧𝐠 π‚πžπ«π―π’πœπšπ₯ π‚πšπ§πœπžπ« 𝐖𝐒𝐭𝐑𝐒𝐧 𝐀 π…πžπ° π†πžπ§πžπ«πšπ­π’π¨π§π¬.”

The chairperson and founder of Sali Hoe Foundation, Ifeyinwa Carol Onwukeme was at Arise, Silverbird and Wazobia Max Television to emphasize that cervical cancer is one of the most successful treatable cancer when detected early, making it a preventable and curable form of cancer as long as it is identified early and effectively managed.

According to Ifeyinwa Carol Onwukeme, one of Sali Hoe Foundation strategies to eliminate cervical cancer is to establish a free Cervical Cancer Screening and Vaccination Center to assist women in Nigeria, the disease causes heavy burden on women and death increase, particularly women with low income.

She added “I thank God for His help, favour, grace and partnerships with well meaning people to fulfil this vision.

So far, with the free enlightenment campaign on cervical cancer prevention, few women are able to  identify their symptoms which are likely to be cervical cancer and they have agreed to visit hospitals for further laboratory investigations and treatment.
