Men who are circumcised have a lower chance of becoming infected with HPV. Men who have not been circumcised are more likely to be infected with HPV and pass it on to their partners. The reasons are unclear, researchers theory is that the surface of the foreskin (which is removed by circumcision) is easily infected by HPV. Although, Circumcision does not completely protect against HPV infections, men who are circumcised can still be infected and pass it to their partners.
The most important risk factor for Cervical Cancer is infection by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). HPV can be spread during sex – including vaginal intercourse, anal intercourse and oral sex. HPV is also passed from one person to another during skin to skin contact. HPV is of 100 types, some of the viruses are classified as:
The cervix is the lower part of the uterus (womb). It is sometimes called the uterine cervix. It is part of the female reproductive system. The cervix is a passageway and it connects the uterus to the vagina. During menstrual flow, blood flows from the uterus through the cervix into the vagina (birth canal). The body (upper part) of the uterus is where a fetus grows.
